SCVeamer PDF backend prototype - dependency notices
Recorded: 2026-10-24 (Japan)

This notice records the third-party packages selected for the PDF conversion
prototype. It supplements existing notices in SCVeamer and its included assets.
It does not declare or change the license of SCVeamer's own code, lecture text,
figures, player, or games. Existing applicable notices must be retained.

The prototype is supplied as source plus pinned installation requirements.
Python package code, PDFium binaries, Python itself, and virtual environments
are not included in this dependency-notice directory. The packages are
installed separately. Full, unmodified license files from the tested packages
are included for reference under licenses/; inventory.json records their
relative paths, versions, sizes, and SHA-256 hashes.

This prototype requires Python 3.11 or later and was tested with Python 3.12.14.
The three pinned packages below are the runtime dependency set for that scope.
Python 3.10 is outside this prototype's stated support scope; pypdf would add
the separate typing_extensions dependency on that interpreter version.

1. pypdf 6.10.0
Purpose: PDF structure, link annotations, selected-page PDF output.
   License: BSD-3-Clause.
   Upstream: https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf
   Distribution: https://pypi.org/project/pypdf/6.10.0/
   Included license: licenses/pypdf-6.10.0/LICENSE

2. pypdfium2 5.14.0
Purpose: PDF rendering and position-aware PDF text extraction.
License: Apache-2.0 / BSD-3-Clause for pypdfium2 itself, as stated by
its upstream project. Documentation and examples are CC-BY-4.0.
   Upstream: https://github.com/pypdfium2-team/pypdfium2
   Distribution: https://pypi.org/project/pypdfium2/5.14.0/
   Included license directory: licenses/pypdfium2-5.14.0/

This directory preserves all 18 license files found in the tested Linux
x86_64 installation: three pypdfium2 license texts and 15 files for the
included PDFium build and its dependencies. CC-BY-4.0 is preserved as part
of that complete supplied set; including its text does not assert that
upstream documentation or examples were copied into SCVeamer.

3. PDFium 156.0.8076.0
Purpose: Native PDF engine accessed through pypdfium2 during conversion.
License: PDFium's BSD-style license plus the licenses of included
dependencies; the actual build configuration matters.
   Upstream: https://pdfium.googlesource.com/pdfium/
   Included license files are under:
   licenses/pypdfium2-5.14.0/data/linux_x64/BUILD_LICENSES/

   Preserved files:
   abseil.txt, agg23.txt, fast_float.txt, freetype.txt, icu.txt, lcms.txt,
   libjpeg_turbo.ijg, libjpeg_turbo.md, libopenjpeg.txt, libpng.txt,
   llvm-libc.txt, pdfium-binaries.txt, pdfium.txt, simdutf.txt, zlib.txt.

4. Pillow 12.3.0
Purpose: Encoding the rendered slide bitmap as a PNG image.
License: MIT-CMU for Pillow itself; bundled third-party libraries carry
their own conditions as recorded in the installed wheel's combined file.
   Upstream: https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow
   Distribution: https://pypi.org/project/pillow/12.3.0/
   Included license: licenses/Pillow-12.3.0/LICENSE

The entire combined license file is preserved, including its third-party
sections. It must not be shortened to the first Pillow license paragraph.

Distribution scope
------------------
These copied notices describe the tested Linux x86_64 package installation.
The PDFium and Pillow dependency sets can differ by operating system, wheel,
and build configuration. Before distributing an executable or bundled Python
environment for another platform, collect and preserve the notices from that
exact build and check its distribution requirements. These files are not a
record of having tested or packaged a Windows executable.

The PNG conversion architecture does not require embedding pypdf, pypdfium2,
PDFium, or Pillow code into the generated presentation HTML. The presentation
still contains its original lecture material, player, games, and their own
applicable notices. Producing a PNG does not alter rights in that material.
