SCVeamer version 1.5 — English sample slides

Intensive Lecture — Day 1

Complex Analysis in Several Variables
47 slides · 135 minutes · Planned time: 14:55–17:10

This sample connects the boundary Levi form with the behavior of holomorphic functions. Its final mathematical question asks how strongly 1-complete or strongly 1-convex spaces differ geometrically from weakly 1-complete spaces. The original 46 slides are followed by a zero-minute slide showing the English Project Holomorphonautica website. The lecture text, interactive examples and presentation controls are in English. No video files or video demonstration slides are included.

This sample is included in the English SCVeamer version 1.5 kit.
First launch prepares its editable copy automatically. You do not need a separate lecture ZIP. To view the finished HTML, you need only a browser: no Python, TeX or local server. The lecture slides and included interactive figures work offline; the final website slide needs internet access.

Edit the source

  1. Run the kit's scveamer.py. On first launch, an editable copy opens as Sample slides.
  2. If the Python dependency is not installed yet, click First-time setup (install libraries).
  3. Click Edit source, edit talk.tex and save. Select LuaLaTeX in TeXworks. The English source uses standard Latin Modern fonts; Japanese font packages are unnecessary.
  4. Keep Use supplementary data (titles, prompts and speaker notes) enabled, then click Build HTML from TeX. Here the supplementary data contains short titles and Ryokuinzu prompts, with no speaker notes.
  5. After the build succeeds, click Open HTML. Reload any already open browser tab.

If another project is open, select Sample slides from the project list. Edit the working copy shown in the editor. To use a copy elsewhere, click Open my project folder and select the folder containing talk.tex.

Keep theme/ and assets/ beside the source. The analytic-disc illustration is assets/levi-analytic-discs.png. The PDF figures are supplied, so Matplotlib is not needed to rebuild the slides.

The boundary Levi form and extension

SlideTopicMinutesPlanned finish
27Boundary normal form, used as a fact316:14
28Positive Levi form and the local function 1/w316:17
29A negative Levi direction and analytic discs316:20
30A uniform bound at the centers by the maximum principle216:22
31Local holomorphic extension by a Cauchy integral416:26

The uniform estimate in R135 Observation III.2.148 and the additional Cauchy-integral extension argument are explained as distinct steps. The later definition of holomorphic convexity recovers the role of the estimate before the lecture turns to Oka's theorem.

Presenting the slides

Use the arrow keys, Space or PageDown to advance. After manipulating a figure, press F2 to return to slide navigation. Use the fullscreen button or the browser's F11 shortcut for fullscreen.

The planned finish time for the current slide is always visible at the lower right. Set the start with \scvstarttime{14:55} and durations with \scvminutes{3} or \observeframe[3]. Pauses share the duration of their logical slide. These are planned times, not an elapsed-time measurement.

This sample has no speaker notes, notes button or footer branding. Definitions, examples and theorem-like statements end with a small square. Previous/next controls remain in fixed positions when changing slides at the same window size. The final website slide adds no planned minutes, so the scheduled finish remains 17:10. Its PDF and handout page show a title and clickable URL.
