SCVeamer 1.5: new features
November 6, 2026. Local videos and web pages can now be included in slides. This kit contains no video files or video demonstration slides. The English sample keeps its original 46 lecture slides and appends one zero-minute slide showing the English project website: 47 slides and 135 planned minutes in total.
Local MP4 videos
Put an MP4 beside your project's talk.tex, or in a folder below it. Write the following command between ordinary frame environments. The command creates a whole slide; do not wrap it in another frame.
\videoframe[minutes=2,lang=en]
{media/movie.mp4}{Video demonstration}
If you have a still image, you can supply a PNG or JPEG with poster.
\videoframe[minutes=2,lang=en,poster={media/movie-poster.png}]
{media/movie.mp4}{Video demonstration}
The HTML uses the browser's playback, pause and seek controls. Playback starts manually and pauses when you leave the slide. The PDF and handout show a Video label and the supplied image, if any. The feature does not convert video files or extract thumbnails automatically. Playback support also depends on the MP4's codecs and the browser.
Video and image paths are relative to the project folder. Use / even on Windows, as in media/movie.mp4. Absolute paths and files outside the project folder are not accepted.
Web pages
\webframe[minutes=3,lang=en]
{https://tkoike.com/proj_holomorphonautica/index.html?lang=en}
{Project Holomorphonautica}
An HTTPS URL opens in the slide's main viewing area, with the usual previous/next controls and page counter below. The PDF and handout show the title and a clickable URL. In the URL argument, write &, % and # directly.
Viewing a website requires internet access. If the site does not allow embedding, use the link that opens the specified page in a new tab. Leaving the slide closes its page; returning to the slide opens the originally specified URL again.
Section dividers and navigation
The standard theme inserts a divider for \section{Heading}. It uses a small Part label, a large pale number and a left-aligned heading. You may use \\ to specify a line break. A divider has zero planned minutes but counts as a slide.
To put a subtitle below the heading, set it in the preamble. The default subtitle is empty.
\scvsectionsubtitle{Project Holomorphonautica}
If your source already has its own dividers, use \scvsectionpages{off} to disable automatic insertion.
The permanent slide-title area at the lower left has been removed. Previous/next arrows and the page counter form a fixed-width group, so their positions do not depend on the title length or optional controls when changing slides at the same window size. On narrow screens the toolbar uses two rows.
Files to share
If a presentation uses videos, share its generated HTML together with the adjacent video folder. For example, index.html also needs index_media/. Keep the generated filenames inside that folder unchanged.
The bundled examples contain no videos, so each finished presentation can be shared as one HTML file. Typeset pages and included interactive figures work offline. A website slide contacts the specified site when viewed; it does not save the whole website inside the HTML.
Using the new features in an older source
Extract the new kit into a separate folder. To add video or website commands to an old project, copy the kit's starter/theme/holotalk-games.sty into that project's theme/ folder. To use the standard section dividers too, also copy starter/theme/holomorphonautica.sty. Then rebuild the PDF and HTML from TeX.
Regenerating HTML with this kit applies the new toolbar. If you use lecture-plan.json, update its slide numbers to include any added pages or dividers.
